Home Visiting

We had our "home visit" this past thursday. That's when your social worker comes to your house to make sure you don't have a torture chamber hidden in your basement, or have 900 cats, or anything else scary. She also asked us some really good questions about our marriage and how we plan to raise this little person. I thought showing you our home would be a fun way to tell you about the home visit :)
welcome to our abode!

in the next few weeks we will be home study approved, which means that a baby could be placed with us literally anytime after that. trust me, you will know when that happens! amazing.

thanks so much for reading,

m

p.s. the nice images were taken by carl zoch and amy seeley
crappy images taken by me.

Orla Kiely

The spring/summer 2012 Collection by Orla Kiely has me swooning. I love the silhouettes of the pieces, especially that second dress which is so reminiscent of a 1930-40's dress. i like the sage green and fawn colors that she used. And i also like the idea of that deep mustard color for spring, when a lot of us think of it for fall and winter. They are just such pretty, feminine clothes. *sigh*

Cozy and Sparse

I like borrowing my housemate's Dwell magazines, but i don't often resonate with the style. it mostly seems uber modern to me and this style often makes me feel too cold. But this feature about designers Helen Rice and Josh Nissenboim and their home in Cherleston had me at hello.
It feels both modern and cozy to me. And i love the older elements of the house that they kept the same.
well, Rice said it best,
"It was our love of the old materials that dictated a lot of the renovation decisions,
we didn't want to alter those elements in any unnatural way. We wanted the space to feel warm but spare, with a mixture of old and new." i'd say they hit the nail on the head.

I think it can be difficult to keep things fresh and modern in a 19th century house (which is what we live in). but this gives me all sorts of inspiration. what do you think?

What i Wore -- A dear friend's birthday.

my dear friend amy had a birthday, and I got to go to MY favorite resturant. how lucky is that?
it was an incredible night of amazing food, awesome friends, and most of all celebrating Amy's life. the chef even came and sat with us, drank wine and told us stories about all sorts of things, including his time in paris. lovely!

Hairspiration

There's a folder on my desktop called "hairspiration" where i tuck away any hairstyles that i find intriguing or inspiring. I am supposedly growing my hair out now and looking to try for one of these little bobs (yeah, check back in 1 or 2 years :). What's your go to hair style? or the one you've always wanted to try? what's your favorite one of this mix?
as a side note: i love that the woman in the 5th picture from the bottom looks like a fawn.

happy tuesday!
