A very important day

November 28th was one of the most important and sacred experiences of my life...
Steve and I sat across from a woman who told us that she wanted to let us parent the little life growing inside of her. The monday after thanksgiving I felt thankfulness in one of the most profound ways that i could imagine.
The little one is a boy whose due date is february 18th.  Steve and I cannot wait to look into his eyes. And hold him in our arms.
we are going to have someone to fill those little booties pictured above!
I can't wait to tell you more about the experience, but I wanted to make this post short and sweet.
Thank you for all your prayers and well-wishes, and your purchases and your encouragement that have helped get us to this most special of days.

with a thankful heart,
m

Anthropologie and Vintage

Anthropologie has some really lovely clothes. But a lot of the elements that make their clothing so pretty are from vintage inspiration. There's nothing wrong with this since its hard to find any bit of fashion that isn't referencing something. But I wanted to do a little experiment to see if i could find some vintage pieces on etsy similar to anthropologie's pieces. With a little creativity and searching, you can usually find something vintage that will be nicer to your wallet, more interesting and one of a kind. (plus you're supporting a small business owner :)

A Cocktail Party

Donna's Dress Shop had her annual Cocktail Party this past saturday. This was my first year being able to attend and I was so excited to take this dress out on the town!

My lovely friends Jen and Danielle came over early and tried on a bazillion dresses and chose these 2, Danielle's (the one on the right) is now in the shop

We drank yummy pink champagne...
this is the back of Donna's Dress...it was incredible.
we tried on lovely dresses... i purchased the black dress on the left: a Suzy Perette!

And Donna Even thought up this great picture area, inspired by 1920s fair and event photos like the one above (i had to get in another shot of Donna's dress :)

It was such a great night. my favorite dress to see in person was this one:

check it out here . I wonder if anyone ended up purchasing it...

I love that its almost time for christmas and new years parties. Its so fun to fill the shop with satin and sparkles and lace.
